Social Media Platforms Step Up To Aid Older People Struggling With COVID-19

The distancing and quarantine procedures that are now familiar to the world due to COVID-19 can be easier for younger generations to accept. Whether it’s millennials or Generation Z, millions of those under 50 grew up with computers, cellphones and tablets tuned to social media and inviting personal and professional connections over long distances. Recent forced isolations can be easier if you’re already accustomed to reaching out to other humans virtually.

Unfortunately, older individuals who grew up in a world in which social interaction meant going outside and mixing with human beings face to face can struggle with finding contacts and other resources in the age of mandatory social media. In some spots, special services stepped forward to serve the senior set.

With a looming recision all but guaranteed even before the Coronavirus quarantine lifts, senior citizens and other older social media users could face practical lifestyles without being able to venture out into the world to confront them. The social platformAmava.com looks to connect retirees through flexible work options, volunteer opportunities and unique travel experiences.

Canvas GFX is making it available to universities for a low-cost annual subscription.

Canvas software is already being used at Baylor University, Boston College, Harvard, and Yale in the US and also internationally. While we’re on the topic of customers, Canvas is also being used by 3M, Boeing, Chevron, Honeywell, General Dynamics, NASA, United Airlines, and Raytheon to some of the companies that have been working with Canvas GFX.

Like so many companies, Canvas GFX has started the program in response to the coronavirus as a way to offer support to universities and faculty who are working remotely, but it’s also a chance for Canvas to relaunch itself, which the company has been doing over 2020.

Myagi: A knowledge supply chain

With the complexity of the cycling industry and the technical nature of the products within it, there is a need for more measurable ways to share knowledge to drive sales. Based in San Francisco but with an EMEA HQ in Birmingham, Myagi is a “knowledge supply chain” platform that connects brands, distributors and retailers, designed to allow them to collaborate, communicate and educate.

It aims to provide sellers with the right intel at the right time to create good customer experiences and improve sell-through. “Simon Turner is our founder,” Richard Smith, EMEA regional director at Myagi explains. “He was a distributor of products for several brands, and one of the responsibilities he had was training store staff. The consistent problem that he had within this business was selling a technical product or indeed a product that was an add on sale – something that people didn’t necessarily come into the store looking for.
