Niantic launches Pokémon Go’s competitive battling league

Pokémon Go is coming off its most lucrative year ever in 2019. And now developer Niantic is working to keep that momentum going in 2020 by improving the augmented reality adventure’s competitive battle system. This is beginning now with the launch of Pokémon Go Battle League, which is rolling out slowly across the globe.

The Go Battle League is a new way for players to face off against one another. It takes the Trainer Battle system and adds a new structure that enables players to face off against one another from around the world. Niantic is also shifting its Premium Raid Passes to Premium Battle Passes. Like many other games, this progression pass will enable players to earn a premium track of unlockables by participating in the games events.

Seattle startup connects with famed love institute to rekindle relationships around ‘Eight Dates’

Mystery, the year-old startup that facilitates surprise dates for couples, and the Gottman Institute, the decades-old, research-based love and therapy organization, are forging a partnership to help couples reignite relationships.

They are teaming on an “Eight Dates” series inside Mystery’s app, essentially creating a way for couples to spark more meaningful conversations as they participate in mystery dates at Seattle area restaurants, bars and other locations.

The partnership plays off a book of the same name released last year by Drs. John Gottman and Julie Schwartz Gottman, which is centered around eight separate conversations that they believe are necessary to have in order to sustain a healthy relationship.

3D Files Meet 2D Views with Canvas X3 CADComposer

Canvas GFX Inc. is back at it and has made major improvements in the newest version of their Canvas software, Canvas X3 CADComposer. Having just launched on December 3, this software is a powerful graphics program with many technical image editing tools. As always, this program can handle vector and raster images; however, most notably, this new version now allows users to import 3D CAD files to give 2D illustrator power to a 3D image.  I had the opportunity to test out the program with different 3D files, and I found several interesting program features.

When you open the Canvas X3 CADComposer program, you are greeted by a standard welcome screen. If you want to open an already existing file, you are in luck, because CADComposer will accept 75 different file types. However, if you want to open a 3D file, this isn’t the place to do it; if you try, you’ll get an error message.
